  Next to the Stadhuis building is a smaller Renaissance building, the Old Civil Registry (1537). This was once the Court for 200 years. Though smaller than his neighbor, he contrasts it for beauty, color and style, if not size. Before it was called the Palace of Freedom and it was governed until 1795. At the top of the building there is a bronze statue of Justice with her eyes tied, while on her right and left the statues of Moses and Aaron. Now is the Tourist Information Office.

  Die Alte Kanzlei (Oude Civiele Griffie) in Brügge befindet sich direkt neben dem Rathaus auf dem Burgplatz. Sie fällt durch ihre weiß verputzte und teils goldglänzendn Front auf. Sie wurde zwischen 1534 und 1537 errichtet. Schäden aus der Zeit der französischen Revolution wurden später behoben, dabie wurde die Fassade um weitere Ornamente ergänzt.
