  It was the house of the merchant who had the exclusive right of taxation on Grout, an imported blend of spices that seasoned the barley when fermenting the beer. The rooms with fireplaces and wood-carved decoration have been preserved intact and host an invaluable collection of artwork. The site takes the visitor back to the Middle Ages.

  Das Gruuthuse-Museum befindet sich in einem Palast am Dijver. Das Gebäude an sich ist bereit sehenswert. In den Räumlichkeiten des Museums werden Wandteppiche, alte Waffen und Reliquien ausgestellt. Da das Museum im Moment restauriert wird, ist es geschlossen. Die Wiedereröffnung ist für 2018 geplant.

  It is expected that the museum reopen in the Spring of 2018, after a capital restoration. Hopefully we are going to admire again its splendid art collection.
