If you are a history buff, this is a must see. The trenches are authentic, complete with mud in the spring and holes where shells hit. The museum has many artifacts found in the trenches and the hill. There is a whole room with propaganda posters. The uniform collection, complete with helmets, is top notch. Do walk down the road to see the graveyard and sign the log book.

Incredible view of Ieper from hill 62. Worth a visit. The museum is not as good as some though. It has exhibits but no labels. Or documentation.

This is an interesting place to visit. The museum itself has a lot of exhibits crammed into a very small space. Some of the items are unique and the slides in the antique photo viewing machines are quite harrowing. The walk in the trench area is interesting and gives a very good idea of the layout but nothing can get over the horrors of fighting here. Even after 100 years the shell craters are still clearly visible and densely packed. One can only guess at the hell that the bombardments created.

The trenches are stunning, with some imagination and prior research you can really see what it was like and how it was all made. it lacked clear information about the site and it's history, but on a positive note, I have never seen to many historical artefacts in one place, if you know what you're looking at they really do have everything and a lot of it! Even strewn across the garden area at the back of the museum.. disorganised and lacks clear information. But still fascinating and worth visiting.

Very interesting and atmospheric living history museum where you can walk around actual trenches from the first world war and see the shell craters. It's great for children to get a idea of what it was like in the war for soldiers. The museum itself has an esoteric mixture of war items which are haphazardly labelled as well as a fun and informative set of photo viewing boxes.
